Scanly: Scan & Organize
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what Scanly: Scan & Organize (“the app”, “we”) does with your information. The app is private by default: it has no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and it does not sell your data.
Who we are
The data controller for this app is Shimon Deitel (Joshua Deitel). You can reach us at s0533495227@gmail.com for any privacy question or request.
What data the app handles
- Photos of documents you scan with your camera.
- Text recognized from your scans (on-device OCR).
- PDF files you export from the app.
All scanning and text recognition happens entirely on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks. Nothing is uploaded to us or to any third party.
Permissions we request and why
- Camera — to let you scan documents.
The app requests this permission only when you start a scan. You can change or revoke it at any time in the iOS Settings app.
Where your data is stored
Your scanned documents are stored on your device. If your device is configured to use iCloud, your data may be backed up or synced through your own Apple iCloud account, which is controlled by you and governed by Apple’s privacy policy. We do not operate a server that stores your scans.
No tracking or advertising
The app does not contain third-party advertising SDKs, and it does not use third-party analytics or tracking frameworks. We do not build advertising profiles from your content.
Purchases
The app offers an optional one-time in-app purchase (“Scanly Pro”) that unlocks unlimited documents, PDF export, and OCR. Purchases and billing are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
Children’s privacy
The app is rated 4+ and is intended for a general audience. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at s0533495227@gmail.com and we will address it.
Your rights (GDPR and CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, and the right not to have your personal information sold. We do not sell personal information. Because your content is stored on your device, you can exercise access and erasure directly: open the app to view your data, and delete data within the app or by deleting the app. For any request you cannot complete yourself, email us at s0533495227@gmail.com and we will respond.
Deleting your data
You can delete individual documents within the app. To remove all of the app’s data from your device, delete the app; this removes the locally stored content. If you sync through your own iCloud, manage or remove that data in your iCloud settings.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and post the revised version here.
